Calendar Announced 2020

The 2020 Calendar for MG Racing Australia was announced at the End of Year Celebration last Saturday.

The season will have Sandown once again book end the year in February and November but two major changes headline a revised calendar taking into account all the feedback from competitors during 2018 and 2019.

The season starts at Sandown in February before going to Winton Motor Raceway in March and then Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in May, the only time the series will head to Phillip Island, the first three rounds will also be part of the CAMS State Championship.  The series will take a break over winter and take off again at Winton for the Festival of Speed in August.  Round 5 will feature the series debut at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia in October before we head to Sandown in November to finish the year off.

Captain Paul Vernall commented that this calendar is one of the best options in recent years, “The biggest change is the addition of a second Winton with the SRS, this is something the last few years we have really been hoping to see change. We consistently gave feedback that the July date for Winton was something that clashed for us having the FoS in August and its great to see the series acknowledge this, so you have to get behind and support them for moving the date”.  The series will do three state rounds in as many months before moving to individual events for the remainder of the year which will also feature a winter break, Vernall commenting despite the busy start to 2020 it should help the back end of the year. “It’s going to be a busy start, but the benefits outweigh the challenges, getting our state rounds done early gives support to the VSCRC, we get three different tracks but we also get to have a break across the winter months, a three month break before FOS will be fantastic and allow people to recover and again having a gap after Winton before a big end to the year with two major events in two months.  The breaks are important to maintain numbers and the Bend is on the wishlist for many so it’s great to make it happen”.

The series will has a break over the next two months before gearing up for 2020
