Motorsport Australia (formerly CAMS) have moved to clarify the mandatory requirement of rain lights from January 1 2020.
Unknown whether it has been driven by the historic movement or on their own, they have moved to clarify that it is not mandatory for rain lights to be fitted to historic vehicles. Below is an email sent and then posted to social media confirming the change, although no formal statement is on the Motorsport Australia website as yet.
MG Racing still recommends the fitment of a rain light, as a category and brand that showcase the “safety first” ethos, The MG Racing committee are committed to safety and highly recommend the fitment of a rain light ahead of the 2020 season.
It is expected based on the below the rain light will be mandatory at non historic race meetings – ie VSCRC events will require it, but VHRR events may not
