Sean Herlihy took home a number of silver trophies from the end of year awards, namely taking home the Rookie of the Year for 2018 showing “consistent improvement in driving and lap time across the year”. Herlihy is a second generation competitor following on from father Michael who has been an MG Racing Champion. Michael commented how proud he was to see Sean take the trophy, “I am very proud to see him doing well, it’s great to see him on track and he has listened and learnt all throughout the year. I am keen to get on track in 2019 and have a run with him!”.
Sean Herlihy also picked up 2nd in Modern 1 behind Chris Gidney and ahead of Jim Dodd who both have MG ZR’s and ultimately the Link MG F award for first MG F across the line in the Championship. Herlihy said wasn’t aware of all the trophies he was eligible for, “I forgot about the Link and Rookie awards! it was pretty cool and a big thank you to my parents who have been awesome all year and I have had so much fun. A big thank you to the guys behind the scenes who make it happen but now I am keen for 2019… when is round 1?”.
2019 should see father and son on track as Mike returns to the track in the same MG B he has run for 25 years!
