With the recent roadmap from the Victorian government giving a glimmer of hope that motorsport may return before 2022, the VHRR and MGCC Victoria have announced their plan to push forward with the VHRR Sandown Historic. The event is currenty planned to run on November 5-7 which is just over the anticipated timeline for an 80% vaccination in Victoria allowing events to go forward, on top of this it is likely NSW restrictions would be eased.
MG Racing have been informed that the event is likely to proceed but with with an understandably smaller field of entrants due to various other barriers including possible border restrictions with South Australia. Sandown Clerk of Course David Vernall stated that the organisers are prepared for a smaller entry, “we understand entries may be down by possibly 100 entrants compared to 2019 however we need to push and give it a shot, the break even point is not unrealistic which would allow the event to run so entries are paramount so the VHRR have the support to go forward”.
Many competitors are itching to go racing again and we encourage you to enter, there has been a big uptake in the recent days since making contact with a number of competitors which is encouraging. At this point it has been advised that attendance will be dependant on being fully vaccinated (ie two shots of vaccine) prior to the event and having the MyGov app to indentify this if required.
